NEW BEGINNINGS

This years theme for the Zine Art Competition is NEW BEGINNINGS! A New Beginning could be a new house, a new name, or in regards to us at The Queer Society, a new team, but you can interpret this theme as abstractly or as literally as you’d like! We are looking for still visual art forms for this competition, i.e. paintings, drawings, digital art, creative photography, however any physical art pieces will need to be submitted as a clear photograph of the art.

How to Enter

To enter, please click the link below the terms and conditions, and this will take you to a Google Form. Once you fill out the Google Form you will be able to upload and image of your art, 1GB maximum. In the form we do ask for your name, however, if you would like a pen-name associated with your art (like an alias), please mention this in the “Description” box, and that will be the name we attach to your artwork!

Prizes and Winning

There will be 2 main prizes of $500 based upon a popular vote (which will be available on our website once the competition has closed). 10 runner up prizes of $50 will also be up for grabs based upon the popular vote as well. Emails will be sent out to the winners after they have been announced with information detailing how to receive your prize, so make sure to keep an eye on your inboxes if you win!

Showcase and Event

Once the competition has concluded on the 15th of April, an event will be held showcasing as much of the art as we can. All those who’s art made it into this showcase will be invited to attend to celebrate their work, and to meet other talented artists like themselves. As we are based in Adelaide, the event will most likely be held around the Marion Council area, however the location, date, and time of this showcase will be decided and finalised closer to the competitions end date. At this event, the 2 winners and 10 runners up will be announced, and presented with their prizes! The winning artworks will also be made into a Zine, displaying the art and promoting the artists, which will be released soon after the winners are decided.
